Not everyone resists change in the same way.
Some push back loudly.
Some withdraw.
Others appear to comply, but nothing shifts.
As a leader, your role isn’t to “deal with” resistance. It’s to understand it.
That’s where coaching comes in.
The next time someone resists a change, instead of jumping to solutions, try this coaching frame:
🔹 “What concerns you most about this change?”
🔹 “What do you feel you’re losing in this shift?”
🔹 “What would help you feel more confident moving forward?”
Often, resistance masks a legitimate concern:
➡️ Unmet needs
➡️ Unclear expectations
➡️ Past experiences that weren’t processed
When you meet resistance with curiosity, not control, you create the conditions for trust, ownership and forward movement.
Want to try this but need support?
